Trama:
Jessica, una normale madre di famiglia di Los Angeles, insegnante di scienze, viene improvvisamente rapita da un gruppo di uomini che la chiudono in una soffitta e distruggono il telefono lì presente per impedirle di chiamare aiuto. Gli uomini in realtà sono poliziotti corrotti, implicati nel traffico di droga, e sono alla ricerca del marito di Jessica, un agente immobiliare che ha filmato casualmente un loro omicidio. Collegando a caso i fili telefonici Jessica riesce a comporre un numero e chiede aiuto al primo che risponde. A rispondere è Ryan, un giovane surfista che ha da poco rotto con la fidanzata, e che dopo un iniziale scetticismo cercherà infine di salvare l'intera famiglia Martin prima che i sequestratori ottengano quello che vogliono (il filmato dell'esecuzione) ed uccidano gli ostaggi.
